You Do Not Have to Earn Rest

Many of us learned to treat rest as a reward. We can stop after the work is finished, after everyone is happy, after the house is clean, after the dream succeeds. The problem is that life keeps creating another task.

Rest is not proof that we have done enough. It is part of being alive. A body is not a machine that failed because it needs sleep, silence, or an afternoon without achievement.

This can feel uncomfortable when usefulness became our identity. Sitting still may bring guilt before it brings peace. Begin gently. Drink something warm without answering messages. Walk without counting steps. Let one hour exist without turning it into content, progress, or evidence.

You do not have to collapse before you are allowed to stop. You were a person before you were productive, and you remain one when nothing is being completed.
