Growing Older Is Not Disappearing

They speak of aging as though a woman slowly vanishes.

As though each line erases her name.

But I have watched women become more visible to themselves.

They stop asking permission. They stop mistaking attention for love. They wear the color, take the trip, say no without a speech.

Growing older is not disappearing.

It is finally arriving without waiting for the world to approve your face.
