A Heart Is Not a Hotel

My heart is not a hotel.

You do not arrive lonely, leave your damage on the floor, sleep beneath my kindness, and disappear at sunrise.

I am not the warm room between two versions of your life.

If you enter, bring honesty.

Bring the courage to remain after comfort.

Love is not taking shelter inside another person.

It is helping them build a home and placing your name beside theirs on the door.
