BET’s Her Baby Starts on Television Before Becoming a Vertical Microseries

Updated: Oct 9
BET has chosen an unusual route forHer Baby: the psychological thriller premieres on the television channel October 7, 2026, before its later release on the aTwist vertical platform. Four weekly half-hour broadcasts will be presented horizontally. The mobile version is still awaiting a date.
That sequence reverses the assumption that a vertical drama has to prove itself on a phone before television takes interest. It also raises a craft question: how do you make a story work when its first audience watches in one shape and its second audience watches in another?
A story built on a dangerous intimacy
Naomi and Cory Marsh are preparing for a baby with the help of a surrogate, Imani. She moves into their home. Naomi begins to suspect that the woman carrying her child wants more than the arrangement promised. The premise needs very little explanation, which is one reason it suits an episode ending: every new kindness can also look like a threat.
BET saysHer Baby is the first title in its partnership with aTwist, a studio and mobile platform. The series stars Mia Reese, Destyni Hannah Cooper and Brandon McGee. The channel describes its airing as a limited first-run window; the subsequent vertical release date has not been announced.
What the deal suggests
The interesting part is not simply that a network bought a microseries. It is that BET plans to use the same property for linear and mobile viewing. A writer pitching into this space may increasingly need to think about both the scene's emotional close-up and the structural problem of reformatting an entire episode. A face-to-face argument can carry either frame. A complicated tableau of six characters may be much harder.
None of this tells us yet whether viewers will followHer Baby from television to aTwist. That is the experiment worth watching after October 7.
