A Letter to the Person Who Feels Invisible

I do not know what happened to make you feel invisible. Perhaps people became accustomed to your help and stopped thanking you. Perhaps you learned to smile so well that nobody asks what it costs.

But being unseen is not the same as being without value. A room can fail to notice the light and still be changed by it.

There are parts of you that have not yet been met by the right people. There are sentences you have not written, animals you have not comforted, and ordinary mornings that will be different because you are there.

Please do not measure your importance only through the attention you receive today. Visibility changes. Your worth does not.
